The Centre for Living with Dying

The Centre for Living with Dying offers volunteer counseling services to individuals and their families facing life-threatening illnesses and those deeply affected by the approaching or actual death of loved ones. Clients benefit from one-to-one and group support services. The Centre has received Valle Monte Leagues, Inc. financial assistance for the past 28 years.

In 2001, the Centre worked with over 20,000 people who were in grief crisis. Eight thousand of those were 18 years of age or under.

The Centre also provides immediate intervention outreach to schools, corporations, hospitals and community organizations when death, illness, trauma or violence strikes, or in the event of a natural disaster. Educational programs dealing with the issues of loss, illness, grief, death and dying are offered to professionals on the front lines of crisis and trauma.

Valle Monte League, Inc. supports the Healing Heart program, a grief program for children and adolescents facing loss. In a comforting environment, young people can freely express their anguish and learn how best to deal with their problems and fears.
