John XXIII Multi-Service Center

John XXIII Multi-Service Center, a nondenominational day care facility for seniors, has been a recipient of Valle Monte League Inc. funds for the past 30 years. Located in downtown San Jose, the Center serves more than 2,500 low income seniors each year, regardless of race, creed or color, in un-duplicated services.  Mental health services include counseling for such problems as depression, isolation, anxiety, family problems, along with other situations that may concern them. Clients are also offered health screening, monitoring, nutritious meals, along with social and recreational activities, all provided at no charge.

The average age of the seniors who use the Center is 78 years, and two thirds of them live alone. The goal of these services is to keep the seniors from being forced into nursing homes.
