Valle Monte League’s mission is to raise funds that provide and promote better mental health in the community through mental health agencies.

A Valle Monte League partner since 1986, Hearts & Minds Activity Center enriches the lives of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and related conditions — providing safe, nurturing, intergenerational programs that support both clients and the people who care for them.

Operation Freedom Paws

Based in San Martin, California, Operation Freedom Paws pairs rescued dogs with veterans, first responders, and others with disabilities through a 48-week program combining service dog training with embedded licensed therapy — all at no cost to clients.

Parents Helping Parents

Parents Helping Parents provides free, professionally facilitated support groups for parents and caregivers of individuals with disabilities and special health care needs — led by licensed therapists in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Valle Monte League, dedicated to raising funds for mental health agencies for over 70 years, is an all-women’s volunteer organization. Women with a strong desire to volunteer and a commitment to enhancing mental health care access and services in the greater Santa Clara County area are encouraged to apply. Valle Monte League is committed to supporting mental health while also fostering friendships among its members.

Today, we are spotlighting one of our agency partners, Operation Freedom Paws. Operation Freedom Paws gives people and dogs a second chance. By partnering with shelters and rescues the dogs are carefully evaluated for service work. OFP creates life changing partnership with veterans, first responders, and individuals with disabilities. Each client commits to a 48-week service dog training program and taking an active role in the training of the dog they've been paired with. What makes their program truly special is the bond created during the training process. Participants work alongside their future service dogs, building trust, confidence, and independence, and companionship every step of the way. A service dog can do far more than provide assistance, if can offer comfort during difficult moments, reduce feelings of isolation, restore confidence, and create life-changing opportunities for connection and healing. Through the power of human-animal bond, Operation Freedom Paws helps individuals regain independence, improve their quality of life, and find renewed hope for the future. This program OFP offers is 100% free to their client, OFP is a nonprofit organization, run by staff who share their mission, and manu of whom were once clients themselves.
